Inadvertant SEO

searchI don’t really go for all that SEO stuff. It’s not that I think there is anything wrong with it, I just don’t think I could possibly optimize my content when it basically consists of whatever absurd thought pops into my head. Since there is no coherent theme to this blog (or my thoughts, but that’s a whole other post), it would seem impossible to do any kind of SEO for it. Somehow I managed it totally by accident.

I started looking through my site stats after reading about a Wordpress exploit. One thing led to another (which means I totally lost track of what I was doing and wound up looking at something else) and I started looking through my referrer reports. Out of curiosity (or maybe it was ego) I looked through my search engine key-phrases. I found some interesting stuff.

Apparently people want to know “How do oysters reproduce?” Who knew?

There were quite a few unfortunate souls who found this idiotic post when they were really looking for Daytona 500 qualifying info. It’s pretty bad that the layout of Nascar.com is so bad that these people ended up at this blog looking for real info (which they didn’t find. Sorry about that).

There were even more people looking for qualifing info. I’m not a poor speller, I’m just optimizing for those who are. In my defense though, Wordpress’ spellcheck blows. Yeah, I know write it in Open Office, spellcheck, copy, paste. That’s three to many steps for me.

This post drew quite a few queries on some variant of Fiat, PanDAKAR, Panda, and/or Dakar. I hope this one was actually helpful to someone. Note to Gruppo Fiat; there was considerable interest in the PanDAKAR project and you gave us virtually nothing to follow after the initial press release. You’re totally missing the boat on this one.

But the overwhelming theme was annoy, annoying, to annoy. Google “stuff that annoys me” and voila! 8th result. There were several variations of this search string, but the oddest was “stuff to do when you’re bored that annoys other people.” This dovetails nicely with the number of referrals from Yahoo mail.

The obvious conclusion from all this is; if you are bored and want to annoy someone, email them a link to this blog. And I’m grouchy. Now you kids get off my lawn. :P

Observations, Stuff That Annoys Me

And now I’ve managed to pingback 3 posts on my own blog. I wonder if this could tear a hole through time and space?

lol…yeah, the exploits are a bad thing. Question is, were you still at the ‘Extended Stay’ hotel when you posted this finally?

Yeah, it’s been my second home for a while now. But my IP address says I’m in a different city. Another state actually.
